“Be still and know that I am God.” Isaiah 41:13
Purpose: To be in Christ’s presence in silence – to listen – to learn.
Commitment: This is a spiritual journey that meets once a week for an hour and a half. We encourage one another in the twice daily practice of being in Christ’s presence for twenty minutes in silence. It is a discipline of letting go of intrusions (thoughts, noises, etc.) by using a sacred word quieting the mind and gently leading one to a deep awareness of Jesus’ presence and action in our lives. After prayer, a viewing of a video or reading a book may prompt a short discussion on the subject.
Preparation: Members of the Contemplative Outreach Group can assist others by suggesting ways such as reading Fr. Thomas Keating’s book, Open Mind – Open Heart.
