Miss Julie Dzurec
Seventh Grade Teacher
In addition to seventh grade homeroom subjects, Miss Dzurec teaches the Junior High social studies at St. Christopher School. She received her bachelor degree from John Carroll University with a double major in History and Secondary Education. She especially enjoys helping her students “connect” with history.
Prior joining the St. Christopher School faculty, Miss Dzurec tutored students at Maple Heights High School in preparation for their Ohio Graduation Tests. Along with teaching, Miss Dzurec coaches junior varsity volleyball at her alma mater, Fairview High School.
Miss Dzurec grew up in Fairview Park and now resides in Rocky River. During the summer works with 6-8 graders from Rocky River and will soon be the assistant director of the Rocky River Summer Day Camp program. In her free time she enjoys travelling, reading, and playing volleyball.

John Karaffa, D.P.M., M.S.
Seventh Grade Teacher
Dr. John Karaffa teaches seventh and eighth grade science. He been a member of the St. Christopher faculty for 12-plus years, but has taught at various levels for 41 years. He is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University where he earned his undergraduate degree in biology and education as well as a graduate degree in health professions education. He is certified to teach all science for grades 7-12.
Prior to teaching at St. Christopher School, Dr. Karaffa taught middle school science in the Cleveland Public School system and then became a podiatrist. He taught podiatry students in the classroom and clinical situations for 14 years and was an associate professor and an assistant dean. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Karaffa also taught part-time at Cuyahoga Community College teaching courses in anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, astronomy, biology, and advance biology.
Dr. Karaffa has been married 42 years and has two grown children and three grandchildren.
